"I choose to paint what is beautiful and meaningful, knowing that this act of celebrating and communicating the beauty in this world has the power to uplift and inspire."
Working primarily in oils, Paula has become known for her exquisite landscapes which are executed in a classical realist manner while maintaining a fresh spontaneity. Her exceptional command of space and light seems to be an innate gift. Places unspoiled and undeveloped by man have become her favorite landscape subjects whether in her native Carolinas, the Colorado Rockies, or the New England sea shore. Her lifelong love of the Eastern Coastline, particularly the Carolina Lowcountry, figures prominently in many of her paintings. In addition to her landscape paintings, Paula also enjoys painting still-life, and divides her time between both studio and plein air painting.
Paula’s work has been shown in numerous National and Museum Exhibitions throughout the United States. As the recipient of many notable awards, Paula has been featured in publications such as American Artist Magazine, Art of the West and Fine Art Connoisseur. Art of the West Magazine featured Paula and her studio, September 2011 issue.
Paula is a Master Member of American Women Artists, and Women Artists of the West, Signature Member of The American Society of Marine Artists, The American Impressionist Society, The National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and Women Painters of the Southeast. She is a member by invitation of PAP-SE, Plein Air Painters of the South East. Paula is also an associate member of Oil Painters of America, and the California Art Club.
