Originally from Holland, impressionist painter Rob Ijbema now lives and works in Wales. His paintings are known for their emphasis on atmosphere, light and movement, rather than detail, which is only hinted at by seemingly random dashes of color. His combination of a delicate impressionist style with a sense of the danger and speed of the Tour de France and in his motor racing paintings, results in powerful artworks. This is year seven where he paints every stage every day of the tour
Before turning to paint and brushes to capture pro cycling and racing cars, Ijbema was a scratch model builder producing work for the most famous names in Grand Prix racing.
